That’s why we built CleanCents around transparency-first offsets, chosen with care — and audited with integrity. We don’t offer hundreds of random projects. We offer a handful of high-impact ones that we’d personally be proud to support.
What You’re Buying When You Offset
When you use CleanCents to offset your carbon footprint, you’re funding a verified carbon removal or reduction project that:
- Has passed rigorous review from a global certifier
- Is monitored over time for actual impact
- Reflects a project where your contribution adds new climate benefit, not just credit for what would have happened anyway
How We Vet Every Project
We partner only with offsets that meet one or more of the following standards:

All projects must be:
- Additional (would not happen without your funding)
- Measurable (quantified in verified tons of CO₂)
- Permanent (avoids reversal risks like forest fires or greenwashing)
- Auditable (third-party review, satellite or field data)
- Socially Responsible (does not displace local communities)
Why Projects Cost Different Amounts
Not all tons of CO₂ are created equal. We choose only high-impact projects. Some of them may cost more — here’s why:
- Real community benefits (e.g., clean energy in rural villages, Indigenous forest restoration)
- Robust verification (higher-cost auditing, ongoing tracking)
- Permanence (e.g., biochar stores carbon for 1000+ years)
- Smaller scale (impact-focused vs. mass-market)
Our current project partners include categories like:
- Reforestation and forest protection
- Clean cookstoves and clean energy
- Soil carbon and regenerative farming
- Methane capture from waste systems
We will always disclose:
- The certifying body
- The project location and story
- The estimated CO₂ removed or avoided
- When the project was issued and how it’s monitored
You’ll never offset into a black box.
How We Handle Offset Accumulation
Each time you make a contribution:
- Your offset is recorded in our system
- We match your CleanCents to an available verified project in our pool
- Once matched, your certificate is generated and linked to your account
- You’ll see the amount you offset and the project it supported
All your offsets are stored under My Impact with clear history, visuals, and download options.
